BUILD A HAWAIIAN VILLAGE

A violent storm has destroyed an entire island village. Without hesitation, the tribal council meets to map out a new and more substantial village for its tribe. Meanwhile, the people begin to form alliances with other tribal families, drawing up their own plans. Each newly formed alliance wants to outdo the other by building bigger and stronger than their neighbors do.

All of the materials necessary to begin their projects are nearby. There is an abundance of bamboo from the rain forest, grass and coconut palm leaves for their thatched roofs, strong hemp rope for securing the bamboo frame, dyes for painting, and heavy grass cloth to paint “story telling” tribal pictographs on.

In addition to their new homes, their plans call for a clinic, community center, jail, and a general store.

To keep the building going strong, and the workers spirits high, the tribal council votes to make a competition of it all.

As the workers plan and build, they will take time out to participate in a variety of fun and skillful island games and challenges! Rewards for their team’s efforts will be based upon their ability to score high in all the events. Most valuable however, will be the prestigious awards given for creating the finest custom bamboo home or community edifice in the village.

Inclusions

Bamboo, grass thatching, coconut palm leaves, hemp rope, paints, brushes, wood and hand made grass cloth for signage, colorful village flags, costumes/props/body paint,

Competitive games and challenges, tribal leader’s beauty pageant, island music, village music man, conch shells, and costumed tribal council to oversee the village construction and fun times.

The various tribes and their families will participate in a conch shell-blowing contest, tribal chant performance, and a village beauty pageant. A treasure/scavenger hunt for the tribe’s golden idol will follow, as the local medicine man stands watch over his people as they work and play!
