After reviewing race instructions with their team leaders, scouting parties armed with digital cameras, limerick clues, Hawaiian trivia questions and enhanced resort map, head out on foot in search of the islands hidden treasures. Upon arriving at each of their mystery checkpoints, teams will be greeted by a costumed island character and offered a choice of one of two activities/tasks which they must complete in order to move on in the race. The activities might be a game to play, a brain teaser question to answer, a dance to perform, a song to write and sing, etc. Upon the successful completion of each activity/task the team's performance is rated and scored by the judges. In addition to their performance, each team must also take a fun photo of their group, acting out a specific scene called for in their instructions booklet. The more "outrageous" and creative the photo, the higher the team score will climb. Teams should always be on the lookout for unique island treasures hidden somewhere along their mystery trail and take it with them.
As the teams cross over the finish line, all found treasures, creative photos, answers to Hawaiian trivia questions and checkpoint activity scores are handed in and each team is rated by the judges.
Once all participating team's scores are tallied, an envelope containing a final clue will be given to each team. Based upon their ranking by the race officials, top teams will be given a head start in their search for the island's buried treasure chest.
Handsome, personalized awards medals will be presented to the three highest scoring teams.
